SueSue
SueSue. is he name my grandfather gave me as a child. I have named my studio in his sweet memory.
Even though I started painting very young, most of my adult life has been consumed with being a mom, a wife, a corporate employee, a sales consultant and real estate agent/broker. I’m still an active broker but am adding “artist” to my resume.
I’m from Atlanta but not your typical Southern Belle. Real estate is tough. For my first six months as a new agent, I cried every day. Mistakes and hurt feelings pulled me down. So… I started making a list of “mistakes I won’t make again.” I wrote out each mistake in black marker on the walls inside my bedroom closet. Every day, while dressing, I reviewed the list. Memorializing mistakes helped me remember them. Eventually I got more confident and stronger as an agent. No more tears. (I have similar lists for my art.)
My real estate work and artwork intersected when on occasion I gifted clients with a drawing of their house.
Humor is my default mode for live in general. You’ll see it sometimes in titles of my art pieces. For instance, the old classic blue ford drawing is “Where I Met My Sister”. (In the back seat to be specific, where I waited for Mom and Dad to bring her to the hospital parking lot.)
Another classic “SueSue-ism” is a bunny in our backyard blueberry patch titled “No More Blueberries”. My next piece was a red tail hawk titled “No More Bunny”. (Sad but true)
For years I was a landscape watercolorist. I’ve also done work in acrylics, oils, colored and pencils but for the time being (and since 2023) I have become a pastel artist.
“Artist” is a new title I’ve given myself. In 2024 I joined the Dunwoody Fine Art Association and am looking forward to displaying my art in public for the first time this October. (2025) If all goes well, the future may bring an “Event” tab on this website.
If by chance you see something here you would like to purchase, please contact me via email. If I still own the piece that interest you, I promise you can afford it!
Thank you for your interest.
